Q: How long does the program last?
A: The Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement Certificate can be
completed in as little as two semesters. Sharing our building is the
Sound Technology recording program which offers an associates
degree in recording arts. If you are looking for an all encompassing
experience in both recording and live sound then in as little as 5
semester you can receive both the Live Sound/Sound
Reinforcement Certificate and an Associates in Arts in Sound
Technology.

Q: When can it be entered?
A: The program is taught at South Plains College which runs on a
semester system. The Fall semester starts at the end of August
and the Spring semester starts in the middle of January. All 7
courses are offered each semester so you can begin the certificate
either in late summer or early spring.

Q: How many classes do I take?
A: The Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement Certificate consists of 7
courses. Live Sound I, Live Sound II, Live Sound III, Sound Systems
Technician, Audio Electronics, Sound System Design & Installation
and Sound System Optimization. To read more about these

FAQ

1401 South College Avenue, Levelland, TX 79336, United States              +1.806-716-2472           jdenning@southplainscollege.edu   or   mquick@southplainscollege.edu

Q: Is it possible to double up on classes and finish both semesters at one time?
A: No. Because of class scheduling several of the classes are
taught simultaneously making it impossible to attend them both.
Secondly, the Live Sound Certificate is an intensive program that
covers an extensive amount of information. Taking more than four
classes at a time would inhibit your ability to obtain the level of
proficiency that we would like you to achieve.

Q: How much does your school cost?
A: The Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement Certificate is a 28 credit
hour certificate. The price per credit hour varies based on your area of residence and the number of hours being taken at one time. The
certificate, if taken in two semesters, could cost as little as $5,000 to $6,000 for tuition and fees. For more information on tuition cost and fees please visit  www.southplainscollege.edu.

Q: What is a Level 1 Certificate?
A: It is a program of study of no more than one year that consists of
at least 15 and no more than 42 semester credit hours.  Level I
certificate programs are exempt from the requirements of the Texas
Success Initiative, although all certificate programs must provide for
local assessment and remediation of students.
